Paraguay have knocked out European giants Germany to advance to the World Cup Round of 16 following a thrilling penalty shootout, after the match had ended 1-1 following extra time.
The South Americans took a shock lead in the 42nd minute when Julio Enciso headed them in front.
However, Germany fought back and deservedly got an equaliser in the second half when a glancing header from Kai Havertz connected with a cross from Florian Wirtz.

The four-time winners thought they had won it when Jonathan Tah headed into the net, only for the goal to be ruled out as Waldemar Anton was adjudged to have fouled Orlando Gill.
During the penalty shootout, Kai Havertz and Nick Woltemade both had their spot-kicks saved by the Paraguayan goalkeeper.
Tah also blazed over for Germany before defender José Canale scored the decisive kick to send Paraguay through 4-3 on penalties.
Following the hard-earned victory, Gustavo Alfaro’s side will play either two-time champions France or 1958 runners-up Sweden in the last 16 in Philadelphia on Saturday.
