​‘He looks confident on the ball’ – Iraola rates Barcola after Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Ipswich

​Iraola noted that Barcola’s teammates “need to learn” his “movements because he will be there threatening in behind all the team.”

​Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has said Reds’ new signing Bradley Barcola “had good minutes” after he was handed his debut off the bench in their 2-0 win away to Ipswich.

​The Spanish tactician made this known on Friday night after the encounter while speaking with Sky Sports on the French winger’s impact.

​Liverpool ended their search for their first league win following two draws in their two previous matches with the victory at Portman Road.

​Prior to the encounter, Iraola promised to hand Barcola, who joined Liverpool from Paris Saint-Germain before the close of the summer transfer window, some minutes.

​As promised, the 24-year-old was among the substitutes but was later introduced by the former Bournemouth handler just after the hour mark.

​When asked to assess Barcola’s performance during the game, Iraola said he was pleased with his contributions.

​He, however, noted that his teammates “need to learn” his “movements because he will be there threatening in behind all the team.”

​”He has had good minutes, a good pass in a counter, a good couple of chances when he was going against the goalkeeper and we haven’t found him,” Iraola said.

​He added, “We need to learn these movements because he will be there threatening in behind all the team, but he looks confident on the ball as always. He hadn’t played any competitive minutes since the World Cup, so we had to be a little bit more careful.”
