Leading fashion entrepreneur and chief executive officer (CEO) of HOPE Fashion, Kiki Okewale, has started a foundation, Stitches of Hope, to give hope to children plagued by deprivations.
Launched on October 18 with a visit to the Makoko waterside community in Lagos, she donated 40 school uniforms, textbooks and writing materials in support of the Makoko Dream, an educationally empowerment project.
“Stitches of Hope is aimed at providing timely interventions that will restore hope and spread happiness to as many people so that they can look beyond their present challenges and see forward to a better tomorrow,” Kiki Okewale said.
She said that her gesture to the community was not charity but an effort at inspiring the children of Makoko to have education because with education they can dream and pursue their dreams and actualise it.
Kiki Okewale promised that her gesture to the community would be the first of many “stitches” to come.
Emmanuel Agunze, the founder of the Makoko Dream along with other volunteers, received Kiki Okewale.
They expressed appreciation for the fashionista’s noble gesture. They said that it has embolden their commitment to the Makoko Dream of using education as a vehicle to take the children to a better future.
