INEC also reaffirmed its preparedness for the governorship election and assured stakeholders of a transparent electoral process.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that about 1.9 million eligible voters in Osun State have collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in readiness for Saturday’s gubernatorial poll.
This was revealed on Thursday in a statement issued by the electoral body’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna.
According to him, out of the total 2,339,233 registered voters in Osun State, 1,906,390 PVCs have been collected by eligible voters across the state.
The commission further added that details of PVC collection in each polling unit can be accessed, as they have been published on its website.
”A table of the PVCs collected, polling unit by polling unit, has been published on the Commission’s website,” Haruna said.

He went on to note that “the number of collected PVCs represents 81.50 per cent of all registered voters, while 426,842 uncollected cards, representing 18.50 per cent, have been secured with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in line with its established procedures.”
The National Commissioner also announced that some voters who reported their cards as damaged, defaced, or missing had applied for replacements ahead of the election.
INEC stated that a total of 6,101 applicants successfully printed downloadable copies of their replacement PVCs to enable them to participate in the election.
The body reaffirmed its preparedness for the governorship election and assured stakeholders of a transparent electoral process, saying, “We reassure political parties, civil society organisations, the media, and the good people of Osun State of our total readiness to conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent, and inclusive election on Saturday, 15 August 2026.”
Haruna urged eligible voters who had collected their PVCs to turn out peacefully and participate in the election across the state’s polling units on Saturday.
