Former Chelsea midfielder Ruud Gullit believes the return of England international Marcus Rashford to Manchester United, following his loan spell at Barcelona, could prove to be the best decision the English Premier League (EPL) club made this summer.

The 63-year-old former Netherlands midfielder and tactician made this known recently while speaking to Sport Witness.

Rashford recently returned to Manchester United after La Liga giants Barcelona failed to make his loan spell permanent.

The Spanish champions were expected to activate a £26 million option for the 28-year-old after he scored eight goals in 32 appearances in all competitions for the club.

However, Barça snubbed a permanent deal for Rashford and opted to sign Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon instead.

Reacting to his return to Old Trafford, Gullit noted that the forward played with “far more freedom” at Barcelona compared to his performance with the Red Devils.

”Marcus Rashford could end up being the best signing,” he said.

Gullit added: “He learned a lot at Barcelona and played much better, with far more freedom, than he ever did at Manchester United.”

Rashford has already joined up with Michael Carrick’s side for pre-season training after his World Cup break ended.
