Federal High Court begins Easter vacation

During the period of the Easter vacation, court will sit in only three major geographical divisions of Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt

The Federal High Court of Nigeria in all the States and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja will commence the 2022 Easter vacation on April 8.

In a release dated March 26 and signed by the Chief Information Officer, Federal High Court of Nigeria, Catherine Oby Christopher and made available to TheNiche states that normal and regular proceedings of the court will resume on April 26.

However, during the period of the vacation, court will sit in only three major geographical divisions of Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt to hear urgent matters from other divisions within those areas.

The release titled ‘Notification Of Federal High Court Of Nigeria Easter Vacation For The Year 2022 And Roster For Vacation Judges’, reads:

“The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Honorable Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, announces the commencement of the Easter Vacation 2022.

“This is pursuant to the provisions of Order 46, Rule 4 (b) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedures) Rules, 2019 (as amended).

“The Vacation will commence from Friday, the 8th day of April, 2022 to Monday, the 25th day of April, 2022.

“The Court shall resume in all Judicial Divisions on Tuesday, the 26th of April, 2022.

“During the vacation, Abuja, Lagos and Port-Harcourt Judicial Divisions shall remain open to the public for cases of extreme urgency.

According to the release, Abuja Division will handle cases from the Federal Capital Territory, North Central, North West and North Eastern parts of the Country; the Lagos Division will handle cases from Lagos State and South Western States, while the Port-Harcourt Division will handle cases from the South-South and South- Eastern States.

The Vacation Judges for Abuja Judicial Division are :

a) Hon. Justice A. R. Mohammed

b) Hon. Justice Nkeonye E. Maha

The Vacation Judges for Lagos Judicial Division are:

a) Hon. Justice Tijjani Ringim

b) Hon. Justice Abimbola O. Awogboro

The Vacation Judges for Port Harcourt Judicial Division are:

a) Hon. Justice Adamu T. Mohammed

b) Hon. Justice Sa’adatu I. Mark

“The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Honorable Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, wishes his fellow Judges, stakeholders and the general public, a wonderful vacation” the release added.
