Former United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has revealed what a Republican Party loss in the midterm election could mean for President Donald Trump, while also calling for an investigation into the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, over alleged election interference.

She shared her perspective on the polls on Monday while appearing as a guest on the ABC programme The View.

Musk donated around $290 million to support Republican candidates and causes during the 2024 US federal election, and has spent about $470 million this midterm cycle.

Upon his victory, Trump appointed the industrialist as a senior adviser, who co-led the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which officially disbanded in July.

While discussing the November 3 midterm elections and political expectations, the former First Lady suggested probing Musk.

”People like Elon Musk, we need a government, starting in January with a new Congress, to begin to hold these people accountable”, Clinton said.

The lawyer and diplomat went on to declare that certain individuals cannot “get away with manipulating the data to try to influence decisions”.

On the possible implications of Democrats taking over the legislative arms of government, she noted that President Donald Trump “is going to get even more out of control” if her party wins both the House and the Senate.

”I think he’s going to feel cornered”, Clinton told the panel. “I think he’s going to feel angry. I think he’s going to be lashing out.”

Meanwhile, while speaking to Sean Hannity on the eve of the midterm elections, Trump said the Democrats would “wipe out” everything his administration had done if they triumphed.
