Nollywood actress, radio personality, and television host, Toke Makinwa, has urged people intending to get into romantic relationships—especially men—to date people of their own age and financial status.
She offered the advice while appearing as a guest on the latest episode of the MENtality podcast, hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.
Sharing her opinion on financial disparity in relationships and marriages, the influencer noted that she is an advocate of people dating within their financial bracket.

According to the actress, romance with someone above one’s financial class can be problematic.
She noted that many men leave their income brackets to chase women above their level, only to later complain that women are materialistic.
Speaking on the show, Makinwa said: “I am a big believer of dating within your age and within your class. That way, there will not be stories that touch. You will have a good girl at home, a girl who will even make dinner with her own money when you don’t have any. Yet, some men will still want to cheat on her with a woman they can’t afford.
“Heaven forbid you end up with a guy who hasn’t made it yet. The day he makes it, that is when you will know his true personality. And that scares women. Money doesn’t change people, it just reveals who the person is. So many men are treating women who sacrificed everything for them badly.”
