Slot noted, however, that Galatasaray’s attack is not solely dependent on the former African Footballer of the Year.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has warned his players not to be complacent in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) fixture against Galatasaray, adding that Nigerian star Victor Osimhen “can score in different ways”.

The Dutch tactician sounded the alarm while speaking ahead of the Reds’ round-of-16 tie against the Turkish giants.

Galatasaray emerged victorious in the previous Champions League league-phase match between the two clubs, played on 30 September 2025 at RAMS Park in Istanbul.

On that occasion, Osimhen was the key man, helping Galatasaray to a narrow 1-0 win over Liverpool.

The Super Eagles forward scored a 16th-minute penalty to ensure Galatasaray secured a crucial European victory.

Aside from this, the Nigerian has already netted seven goals in this season’s Champions League.

Speaking on Osimhen ahead of the first-leg knockout game, Slot said the 27-year-old can make a difference in many ways, noting his flexibility on the pitch.

“I believe Galatasaray have many strong players, but their ability to move the ball quickly is definitely one of their biggest strengths.

“Of course, one of the first players that comes to mind is Victor Osimhen, who is a very good striker. He can score from crosses, he can score in different ways, but he is definitely a big danger when the team starts a quick counter-attack,” said Slot, as reported by Liverpool’s official website.

The head coach added: “Osimhen can be a danger to Liverpool when he is in the box and during quick attacks.”

However, Slot noted that Galatasaray’s attack is not solely dependent on the former African Footballer of the Year.

Referencing the team’s last match, he added: “But they have more than just Osimhen in their front line who are all really quick.

“In our last game against them, Baris Alper Yilmaz was a problem for us because he was a bit too quick twice in the first half. Both times he was heading towards the goalkeeper.”
