Cameroon had earlier defeated hosts Morocco on penalties in the semi-final of the tournament to set up a final with debutants Malawi.

Cameroon lifted their first Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title after thrashing debutants Malawi 3-0 in the final of the tournament, played at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat, Morocco on Sunday night.
The Indomitable Lionesses opened the scoring in the 21st minute of the encounter through Marie Ngah, who headed the ball into the back of the net.
Ndjoah Eto then doubled their advantage six minutes later with a sharp, swivelling finish inside the box.

Ngah struck once again before the half-time whistle to secure her brace and extend Cameroon’s lead to 3-0.
In the second half, Malawi improved significantly but were unable to reduce the deficit.
Following the feat, Cameroon joined Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, and South Africa as the only four countries to have ever won the WAFCON trophy since the tournament became a full-scale
