In Ugiagbe Loveth’s neighbourhood, residents patronise drinks and snacks labeled “natural,” but behind the labels were sugar and chemicals that cause damage to their health.

Exploring that gap, Loveth, a graduate of Mass Communication from Auch Federal Polytechnic, decided to offer something better. She launched an organic catering service offering truly natural drinks, meals, and snacks to help people eat well and manage their sugar level naturally.

Loveth didn’t start from scratch. After school, she worked with several organizations, but her firsthand knowledge of organic products came from an organic herbal company in Lagos.

“The company wasn’t into food. “It dealt with natural health products, and that’s where I learned how powerful natural ingredients could be and the difference they could make”, she said in an interview with TheNiche

Story behind her food business

Loveth combined what she learned at the organic company with her childhood passion for cooking and built it into her catering service.

“The idea that I could bring those same natural principles into food and catering came to me. I wanted to help people eat healthy without compromise. That’s how I launched my brand, Ivgamali Events Services Ltd, in 2025”, Loveth added. Since launching, she has helped people manage their sugar level without relying on processed foods or medication.

Capital

Loveth said capital was a challenge and has remained so. She funds it through her personal savings and earnings from her paid job while continuing to seek grants and loans to expand her business.

Building her base

Loveth wasn’t new into catering. While in school, she baked her own graduation cake, fried chin, and cooked for family and friends. After marriage, she went back to train professionally.

“People around me knew I could bake and cook. I started my relaunch with the same family and friends. They referred me to clients looking to cut sugar from their diet, and the feedback has been good. I’m still pushing for more patronage and expansion”, she said. That early word-of-mouth became the foundation. Referrals started coming in, and Loveth’s client base grew from there.

Experience

Loveth said while trying to gain visibility, she spent money on a Facebook advert that ended up being a waste because she didn’t fully understand how it worked. She explained that if she had been better informed, she could have used that same money for a longer campaign that would have showcased her products more effectively.

“That taught me to always take my time to get full knowledge of whatever I want to embark on and understand it well. If I had understood it well, I wouldn’t have spent that huge amount on just a few days’ advert that didn’t generate anything for me,” she said.

Breakthrough

The brand owner of Ivgamali Events Services Ltd said positive feedbacks from her clients have been her motivation and breakthroughs. “Providing people with healthy drinks, food and snacks has been my happiness. My passion for healthy foods has kept me and testimonies from clients has been my breakthroughs”, she said.

Challenges of business ownership

Loveth’s biggest challenge is fluctuating market prices, which she says directly affects her sales. “When you bill customers, they start shouting, ‘It’s too much!’ But it’s not our fault. Market prices aren’t consistent.  My standard is healthy living. I use only organic products for my drinks. I don’t use sweeteners as substitute. If I’m making Zobo, I use dates—everything is natural. You can’t compare that to drinks made with sweeteners. So, I tell customers: if you want this quality, this is the price,” she said.

Natural and delicious

She also said electricity is a major challenge for running her business in Nigeria.

In her words; “I remember making Zobo for a client. We’d already agreed on the pick-up day, but when there was no light, I had to call her. Because of that, I spent extra money delivering it myself, even though she was supposed to pick it up. So power is a major part of my challenges.

“Then there’s visibility. A young business like mine struggles with visibility and capital. If the government could assist, it would go a long way,” she said.

Japa

Loveth, the brand owner of Ivgamali Events Services Ltd said she believes in Nigeria. According to her, if she has the opportunity of traveling out, she would still maintain her business here. “I want to establish my business here. I believe that together we can build the nation,” she said.
