Barcelona on Sunday lifted their 29th domestic league title after a convincing 2-0 win over their local rivals, Real Madrid.

Hansi Flick’s men opened the scoring as early as the 9th minute of El Clásico after Marcus Rashford scored a stunning free kick.

They doubled their advantage nine minutes later when Ferran Torres found the net with a fine finish from Dani Olmo’s assist.

With the victory, Barcelona open an unassailable 14-point lead at the top of the table over their nearest rivals with only three matches remaining.

The triumph, however, came on an emotional day for Flick, who remained on the touchline despite news emerging shortly before kick-off about the passing of his father.

The German tactician, who succeeded Xavi Hernández in 2024 after leaving his roles with Bayern Munich and the German national team, has now won the league in each of his first two campaigns in charge of the Spanish giants.

Barcelona are now seven titles behind record winners Real after claiming the La Liga crown in back-to-back seasons.

The latest Clásico also entered the history books, becoming only the second time a meeting between Barcelona and Real Madrid has directly decided the La Liga title.
