Singer and one-half of the defunct Afrobeats musical duo P-Square, Peter Okoye, has chided his twin brother, Paul Okoye, for joining those trolling him after his comment on Nigeria, accusing him of always trying to bring him down.
He levelled the allegation against his brother on Wednesday evening while responding to Paul’s reactions to his post on Nigerian languages.
Peter came under fire on social media after he posted on his X page on Monday that he was considering buying a house in Paris because his children spoke French fluently.
Reacting to a question from an X user identified on the platform as Don Buddy, the singer asked, “who Naija language help?”
Following the comments, netizens trooped to his comment section and blasted him for downgrading the native languages he had sung in for years, arguing that indigenous languages are essential to preserving Nigeria’s cultural heritage.
Joining others, Paul distanced himself from his brother’s remark, stating: “I’m a ‘nobody’. I repeat! A nobody! Without the culture, native, language.”

However, reacting to the criticism on Wednesday, the 44-year-old stated in a tweet that people misunderstood his remarks, adding that he never intended to attack the Igbo language or any other languages or cultures.
While taking responsibility for how people had received his words, he said: “If my response to ‘Who Naija language help?’ upset some people, I apologise and take full responsibility for my words.”
He went on to accuse his brother, Paul, of using every opportunity he gets to try and pull him down.
Peter added: “But again, bro, you’re at it again, using this moment as another opportunity to pull me down. Just like I wrote in my open letter two years ago, doing everything possible to make people hate me will never work.
“Yes, people are dragging me over my statement, and that is okay. I accept that. But deliberately twisting my words and using petty tactics to damage my reputation says a lot.
“I don’t know why you look for every opportunity to make derisive comments or jump on the bandwagon whenever I am being attacked.”
