Ondo APC unveils 228-member campaign council for Tinubu’s re-election

The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated a 228-member Presidential Campaign Council to coordinate grassroots mobilisation and secure support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.

The campaign council, which brings together serving and former public office holders, political leaders, elders, women and youth leaders, professionals and grassroots mobilisers, is also expected to galvanise support for other candidates of the party across the state.

The statement was issued by the State Chairman of the APC, Hon. Kolawole Babatunde on behalf of the party.

The constitution of the council, according to the party, is aimed at strengthening the APC’s political structure across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State and ensuring a coordinated campaign ahead of the elections.

Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa emerged as Chairman of the council, while his deputy, Dr Olaide Adelami, will serve as Vice Chairman I. The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, is Vice Chairman II, while Hon. Babatunde Kolawole, Prof. Taiwo Oyedele, Hon. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo and Hon. Ayodele Olawamide were named Vice Chairmen III, IV, V and VI respectively.

Former governor of the state, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, is also listed as a member of the council, alongside several prominent political figures, including former Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi, former Secretary to the State Government Ifedayo Abegunde, former Speaker of the House of Assembly Bamidele Oleyelogun and former Deputy Speaker Iroju Ogundeji.

The council also has the immediate past Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Oladimeji Oleyelogun, as well as former and serving senators, members of the National Assembly, former commissioners, local government leaders and other notable APC stakeholders among its members.

Former Speaker House of Assembly Rt. Hon Victor Adekanye Olabimtan, was appointed Director-General of the campaign council, while Dr Sylvester Olumuyiwa Adu will serve as Deputy Director-General.

The party also enlisted members of its Governor’s Advisory Council, with Chief Pius Akinyelure retaining his position as Chairman of the GAC and Senator Nimbe Farukanmi named Chairman of the APC Elders Forum.

Other prominent members include Senator Jide Ipinsagba, Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire, Senator Dayo Faduyile, Senator Tayo Alasoadura, Senator Remi Okunrinboye, Senator Gbenga Ogunniya, Senator Titus Olupitan, Senator Robert Ajayi Boroffice, Senator Yele Omogunwa and Senator Boluwaji Kunlere.

The list also features former and serving political office holders, including Chief Sola Ebiseni, Chief Olusola Oke, SAN, Dr Tunji Abayomi, Justice Sehinde Kumuyi (rtd.), Prince Olusegun Omojuwa, Hon. Ayodele Akande, Engr. Johnson Alabi, Idowu Ajanaku, Dr. Taiwo Olumide Fasoranti, Prince Olusegun Omojuwa, Hon. Otito Atikase, Hon. Abiola Oladapo, Hon. Ogunwumiju Moyinolorun  and several other political stakeholders drawn from different parts of the state.

According to the APC, the broad-based composition of the council reflects the party’s determination to unite its various tendencies and political structures ahead of the 2027 elections, while taking the campaign to the grassroots.

The party said the council would work towards advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration and mobilising voters across the state for the president and other APC candidates.

With the council spanning political leaders, professionals, traditional stakeholders, women, youths and grassroots actors, the party expressed confidence that its mobilisation machinery would be strengthened ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The development is expected to further consolidate the APC’s political structures in Ondo State and provide a platform for sustained mobilisation, coordination and engagement with voters in the build-up to the elections.
