Oyinlola further stated that age, experience, and political history do not place Wike above him in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Peoples Democratic Party chieftain and former Osun State governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has rejected the assertion that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is his leader, insisting, “He’s my boy.”
He made the clarification on Wednesday, 4 November, while appearing as a guest on Channels Television programme Politics Today.
The former Osun governor was reacting to claims in certain quarters that the FCT Minister is the leader of the PDP.
According to Oyinlola, although he is still a member of the PDP, the former Rivers State governor is more of his boy because when he was governor, Wike was still in school.

He went on to state categorically that the minister is not his leader and will never be, adding that he is not part of the APC’s “rainbow coalition”.
Speaking during the interview, Oyinlola said:
“Nobody has invited me to any rainbow coalition. I don’t know the meaning of rainbow except the one I know. He is not my leader. You don’t say that kind of thing. Yes, I am a member of the PDP, but he is not my leader.
”When I was governor, where was he? He was in school. So, he doesn’t qualify to be my leader. He’s my boy.”
He further stated that age, experience, and political history do not place Wike above him in the PDP.
Oyinlola reiterated that he joined politics long ago and had already attained the highest positions in the party and in government before Wike rose to prominence.
