Ace Fuji singer, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, could be  blacklisted from all Nigerian commercial flights for a period of six months, after he allegedly breached security protocols at the Abuja Airport.

According to TVC NEWS, this development was confirmed by the Director of Consumer Protection at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Michael Achimugu.

TheNiche had earlier reported that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on Wednesday launched a probe into the alleged unruly behaviour of the musician while boarding an aircraft.

According to FAAN, KWAM1 disrupted flight operations on Tuesday after he was suspected to be carrying a gold flask which contained alcohol.

Security staff requested to verify the content of the flask but the singer  vehemently refused and disrupted operations at the airport.

“As boarding continued, an airline security officer asked the passenger to step aside for further clarification. The passenger allegedly refused and spilled the contents of the flask on the officer, which turned out to be alcohol. The Flight Captain intervened but faced similar resistance. After confirming that boarding was complete, she instructed the closure of the aircraft door.

“At this juncture, the passenger moved to the front of the aircraft and refused to leave the area despite repeated requests. He was ultimately escorted away by AVSEC crime unit for further investigation, after which he was released,” a statement issued by FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah partly read.

Addressing growing public speculation on social media, NCAA Director, Achimugu emphasized that there are no “untouchables” in Nigeria’s airspace.

He dismissed rumors suggesting that the musician would escape sanctions due to his perceived closeness to the presidency.

“The fact that he is a well-known figure or even close to the President does not exempt him from the law,” he said. “President Bola Tinubu himself is a respecter of the law and would not condone any act that undermines public safety or the regulatory authority of the NCAA.”

If implemented, such a ban would be a major blow to the Fuji king, who regularly travels for local and international performances.
