Atiku and Obi are expected to stand against Nigeria’s incumbent president, Bola Tinubu, during the 2027 presidential election.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) counterpart, Peter Obi, have congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election for a second term.
They felicitated the Accord Party chieftain on Sunday in separate statements shared via their respective X (formerly Twitter) accounts.
According to Atiku, Adeleke’s emergence for a second term as Osun State governor reflects the choice of the state’s electorate.
He went on to commend residents of the state for their peaceful conduct during the off-cycle election.
Taking to his verified account, Atiku wrote: “I congratulate Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election as Governor of Osun State.
“His victory demonstrates the choice of the people of Osun as expressed at the ballot box. I commend the people for their passion and peaceful participation.”

The former Vice-President further wished Adeleke continued success as he begins his second term in office.
Also celebrating with the governor after his second-term win, Obi agreed with Atiku that the election reflected the choice of Osun voters.
The former Anambra State governor praised youths in the state for peacefully defending their votes during the poll.
“The people of Osun State have spoken with courage and clarity, reaffirming that the power to choose their leaders belongs to the people,” Obi said.
He added: “The lesson from Osun is clear: democracy is strongest when citizens are alert, conscious of their civic responsibility, and determined to ensure that their votes count.”
Obi also urged Nigerians to remain active and protect their votes during the 2027 general election.
