Former Arsenal and Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has tipped his nation, France, and Spain to win this year’s FIFA World Cup, arguing that the two are the “strongest teams”.
He was quoted by the BBC as making the prediction while speaking about the favourite teams to lift the trophy at this year’s tournament.
France, who were finalists against Argentina four years ago, are in Group I of this year’s edition of the World Cup alongside Senegal, Norway, and Iraq.

Spain, on the other hand, are in Group H and will face Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia, and Uruguay.
Speaking on the chances of the two teams, Giroud said: ‘For me, the two strongest teams are France and Spain.’
He, however, wondered if the two teams would be drawn against each other before reaching the final of the tournament.
‘But will they meet each other in the final or before? That will be the question,’ he added.
