UK Trade Envoy to Nigeria, MP John Howell, makes second visit to Nigeria in one year

-

John Howell MP is making his second visit to Lagos Nigeria (8-10 November) and his 3rd to the country since becoming Trade Envoy in 2016.

Following on from two very successful trade missions to the UK based around Agriculture and Infrastructure, the main objective of the Envoy’s visit is to showcase opportunities for UK business in Nigeria and emphasize to Nigerian firms the benefits of doing business with Great Britain. He will highlight the models of businesses that are established and thriving despite the perceived challenges.

The Trade Envoy is also using the visit to appreciate Nigeria’s impetus for a diverse economy and will be meeting with key stakeholders across ICT, Agriculture & Infrastructure.

On returning to Nigeria, John Howell MP said: “There have been a lot of good things coming out of Nigeria since my last visit in July and I’m looking forward returning and seeing some of these first hand; the energy, drive and ambition of the Nigerian market is always impressive. Illustrating these good stories would help to challenge the perceptions around the opportunities available and the architecture of the business environment in both Nigeria and the UK, so we definitely want to start building a new conversation around our bilateral trade potential and are looking forward to our next steps in this partnership.”

The Trade Envoy programme was launched by then Prime Minister, David Cameron, in November 2012 and is a network designed to support the UK Government’s overall strategy to drive economic growth.
