Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike has faulted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, for allegedly playing politics with his wife and mother.

He levelled the allegation at the former Minister of Transportation on Thursday, 5 November, while speaking during his monthly media chat in Abuja.

He was disputing Amaechi’s claims—made during an interview with Rapid TV—that he would distance himself from his wife if she were the president of Nigeria, and that he would not govern like President Bola Tinubu.

Reacting to the ADC chieftain’s assertion, Wike accused the former Rivers State governor of disrespecting his mother and wife.

He said: “Why do you have to bring your wife now into politics?

”The last time you brought in your mother, that it was the policy of the President that killed your mother, and I saw the reactions of people.

”A man who does not respect his mother, now he has done it to his wife. For Christ’s sake, why an innocent woman?”

While claiming Amaechi lied, the Minister reminded him that the contract secured by his wife with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is yet to be executed.

Wike added: “You and I know that he is not telling the truth. I watched it on video, and how irresponsible… You know that your wife will not be president at any point, and it’s not correct, but now you have brought your wife into the front burner of politics, which is not right.

”Was your contract in the NDDC done? Was it not given to your wife? Why always bring out your wife? Why didn’t you divorce your wife then?”
