South Africa finished in second position in Group A with four points, behind group leaders Mexico.

Two representatives from the African continent have made it into the knockout stages of the ongoing 2026 World Cup.
On Wednesday, Morocco came from behind to defeat Haiti 4-2 to qualify for the Round of 32 of the tournament.
Haiti scored their first World Cup goal in 52 years via an early own goal before Morocco levelled through Achraf Hakimi.
William Isidor then fired in a stunning goal from distance to put the Caribbean side back in front in what was an entertaining affair.

However, Morocco’s Ismael Saibari scored in first-half stoppage time to pull his side level again, before Soufiane Rahimi and Gessime Yassine netted late on.
The win ensured the African side finished second in Group C behind Brazil to progress.
Similarly, South Africa joined Morocco as the second African team to progress to the last 32 of the World Cup.
This follows their 1-0 win against Asian side South Korea in the early hours of Thursday morning.
A second-half goal from Thapelo Maseko ensured South Africa finished in second position in Group A with four points to progress to the knockout stage.
Bafana Bafana finished behind Mexico, who topped the group with nine points after beating Czechia 3-0.
