Tottenham continue magical Etihad run after beating Man City 2-0

Tottenham with the win went top of the Premier League table after garnering 6 points from two games.

Tottenham Hotspur defeated Man City 2-0 in a Premier League encounter  played at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The home side began slowly as Omar Marmoush latched onto Pedro Porro’s loose header and squeezed a shot narrowly wide of the far post before seeing a thunderous strike from range pushed away by Guglielmo Vicario.

Moments later, the Egyptian forced another excellent save from the Spurs goalkeeper after being played through by Erling Haaland.

However, it was the visitors who took the lead in the 25th minute, after Richarlison’s low cross was converted by Brennan Johnson.

The goal was initially ruled out for offside, but overturned following a review by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

Spurs doubled their advantage in added time of the first half through Joao Palhinha, who took advantage of a loose pass from James Trafford inside his own area.

Haaland should have pulled one back for Man City before the break but headed over from close range.

Both teams continued to prob in the second half but they were unable to add to the tally.

With the win, Tottenham went top of the Premier League table after garnering 6 points from two games, Man City, on the other hand, stayed third pending other games on Saturday.
