Afrobeat singer and instrumentalist, Made Kuti, has advised a netizen who criticized him for marrying an Igbo woman to try and learn more about what unity can bring to a nation.
The singer, who is the grandson of Afrobeats pioneer, Fela Kuti, gave the advice while replying a netizen on X.
Made tied the knot with an Igbo lady, Inedoye Onyenso, at a civil wedding ceremony in Lagos in November 2023.
Since then, their marriage has been subjected to criticisms by bigots who accused them of “mixing blood” due to their different ethnic backgrounds.

Speaking on the subject in a recent post, an X user identified as @AdemolaOgudu called the singer a “foolish Yoruba man” for marrying an Igbo woman.
Reacting to the abuse, Kuti stated that “believing ethnic superiority/inferiority is justifiable is slave mentality.”
He urged his critics to enlighten themselves with “history and knowledge left” by Pan-Africanists like his great-grandmother Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, his grandfather Fela Kuti, Kwame Nkrumah, and Thomas Sankara.
He also explained that Africa would gain more when united.
