Bayelsa State former governor, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Timipre Sylve, has condemned youth violence, which claimed one person in his Okpoama community in Brass Local Government Area on February 4, 2018.
In a statement by Doifie Buokoribo, the
Media Adviser to Timipre Sylva, the former governor wondered why the election of youth executive in the kingdom turned bloody.
The APC chief lamented: “As at press time, one youth leader who sustained serious injuries had died.”
He described the violence as unwarranted, unfortunate and strange to the hitherto peaceful community, while condoling with the family of the dead, as he prayed for the quick recovery of the injured.
He decried the desperation of youths to spill blood over the control of the kingdom’s youth body.
Sylva, however, called on the leadership of the community to work with the security agencies to ensure that all those involved in the violence were brought to book without delay.
The former governor reiterated the need for peace in the community, tasking all stakeholders to restore lasting order.
