Super Eagles defender Tyronne Ebuehi eyeing ‘dream’ Wembley win

The 22-year-old started Monday’s 1-1 draw against the Democratic Republic of Congo, and although he is unlikely to beat Shehu Abdullahi to a starting position against the Three Lions, he is still relishing the prospect of being out on the pitch.

“Playing in a stadium like Wembley is something you dream of,” the Benfica man told KweséESPN. “We know it is going to be a hard game, but also a very nice one. It’s such a great stadium and everyone is looking forward to playing in it.”

Ebuehi added: “I hope we win. We are going to give it our all and I think we can make it hard for England … I believe we can get a victory.”

Saturday’s meeting will mark only the second time Nigeria have met England at senior international level. The first was way back in November 1994, when David Platt’s header condemned a plucky Nigerian side — fresh off a scintillating debut World Cup — to a 1-0 defeat.

The Super Eagles next move to Austria for the final phase of their pre-World Cup training camp — which includes one last friendly against the Czech Republic — before flying out to Russia where they will face Croatia, Iceland and Argentina in Group D
