Sudan coach, Kwesi Appiah, has attributed the 4-0 annihilation of the Home-based Super Eagles in Tuesday’s Group D game of the 2024 CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) to his tactics.

The Chanian tactician made this known during his post-match interview.

An own-goal from Leonard Ngenge, a goal from Walieldin Khedr and a brace from Abdel Raouf gave Appiah’s side an empathic victory against Eric Chelle’s men.

The result means Sudan are now on top of Group D with four points from two matches.

Nigeria on the other hand, remain bottom of the group with no point from two games.

Speaking after the encounter, Appiah suggested that Sudan won because his players absorbed the pressure from Nigeria and played them on the counter.

He also said his team played much better than they did against Congo in their first match.

“We knew it would be a tough game, especially the first 20 minutes,” Appiah  told reporters.

“We had to absorb the pressure from Nigeria and played them on the counter. Our level was much better than our previous performance against Congo.”
