Sowore argued that the move by DSS to pressure X into silencing him was an attempt to “export national disgrace to the US.”

Human rights activist and chieftain of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has said despite recent attempts by security agencies to clamp down on his social media accounts, he will continue to criticise the President Bola Tinubu-led government.

He made this known on Sunday via a statement he shared on his official X page.

TheNiche had earlier reported that the Department of State Services (DSS) wrote a letter to X (formerly Twitter), demanding the immediate removal of the X handle of Omoyele Sowore within 24 hours.

The letter from B. Bamigboye, representing the DSS addressed to the Chairman and CEO of X Corporation, also demanded the immediate removal of a tweet posted by Sowore on August 25, 2025, via his X handle.

The post in question allegedly disparages the President Tinubu, claiming he lied about the absence of corruption in his regime during a trip to Brazil.

Reacting to the demand, Sowore argued that the action is “unconstitutional” and amounts to “a desecration of national dignity.”

He also accused the DSS and the police of persistent harassment, including arrests, seizure of his passport, and what he described as trumped-up charges.

The 2023 AAA presidential candidate further alleged that he was recently assaulted by armed police officers, and that the federal government had falsely accused him in court of terrorism financing.

He maintained that the DSS move to pressure social media platforms into silencing him was an attempt to “export national disgrace to the US,” insisting that such measures would not stop his campaign against President Tinubu’s administration.

“The struggle against these criminals continues ceaselessly with or without a Twitter account, with or without Facebook, and whether I am in jail or outside of it. The struggle continues,” Sowore declared.
