El-Rufai engages political associates, religious, traditional institutions in Owerri
Former governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has extended his political engagement to the Southeast.
At the weekend, he visited Owerri, Imo State Capital where he met with stakeholders, political associates, religious and traditional leaders in the state.
After the visit, El-Rufai expressed joy and gratitude for the warmth of his reception in Owerri.
He stated that the objective of his trip in deepening engagements for national unity and progress were duly met, noting the positive and welcoming attitude he was accorded to by everyone.
“Owerri has been a great visit. We were well-received everywhere we went. From religious institutions to engagements with stakeholders, political associates and the traditional institution, it has been a consistent pattern of welcome and openness.
“I am overwhelmed by the grace and dignity displayed by the institutions and personalities that have received us.
“It is an exemplary display of a Nigerian citizen being made to feel welcome outside of his home area, amidst all the attempts at division.
“I thank the Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri for inviting me to the 2025 Odenigbo Lecture. It was wonderful to address participants at the women’s conference of the Anglican Diocese of Egbu. His Highness Eze Stephen Kemjika Agumanu of Nekede was a most gracious host.
“The interactive session we held on our first night stands out as well. I appreciate the solidarity displayed by His Excellency Peter Obi who attended the event despite not feeling well.
“Owerri has been kind and open, and we have enjoyed the time, and we leave with great memories.”
