Nigerian singer and songwriter Niniola Apata has lost her husband and the Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview, Michael Ndika.
She announced his death in the early hours of Wednesday via a series of emotional posts shared on her official Instagram page.
Details surrounding the demise of Ndika, who led a multimedia platform focused on Afro-house and contemporary African music, have not been made public.
In one of the posts shared by the Grammy-nominated artist, she wrote, “God took him.”
In another emotional message, the 39-year-old Niniola stated, “My husband died.”

Sharing pictures of herself alongside her late husband, she added, “God took him. 13 years. 13 f***ing years.”
Niniola rose to prominence after emerging as one of the standout contestants on Project Fame West Africa in 2013.
The breakthrough launched her into the Nigerian music industry, and she has since established herself as one of the country’s leading Afro-house voices.
With her 2017 hit single, ‘Maradona’, the singer earned international recognition and attracted attention from global music figures including DJ Snake, Drake, Timbaland and Beyoncé.
She and her late husband maintained a largely private personal life away from public attention and social media.
