Afrobeats singer, songwriter, and dancer Chimamanda Pearl Chukwuma, better known as Qing Madi, has claimed that her former boss and CEO of JTon Music, Joy Tongo, forged her signature and stole from her.
The ‘American Love’ crooner levelled the weighty allegation against the record label owner during a recent TikTok livestream.
During the session, Madi argued that Tongo was out to sabotage her career after the label had multiple songs from her new album, Barely Legal, taken down from streaming platforms over an alleged breach of contract.
The 19-year-old noted that the music executive is “cutting corners” to sabotage her after she won the $2-million lawsuit her label brought against her in court.

While addressing the matter via the livestream, Qing Madi alleged: “She [Joy Tongo] stole from me, did a bunch of weird things like forging my signature. She sued me for $2M and she lost the case. She took down ‘Pepper Me’; I worked with my team to prove it’s an illegal takedown. They went through the corners again to take down the project.”
She called on fans to assist in speaking out against the alleged injustice, stressing that she was getting exhausted by the ongoing struggles with her former label.
However, while reacting to the claims via her official Instagram page, Tongo labelled them “false narratives” and denied forging the singer’s signature or stealing from her.
She also countered Madi’s assertion that she had won a case against her label in court, adding that the injunction procured was the very reason she could issue a legal takedown of her songs.
She clarified: “The injunction ruling is why we can issue a legal takedown now. What case have you won? Because last time I checked, the case still hasn’t gone to trial.”
