PSG beat Arsenal on penalties, lift UCL trophy for second consecutive time

PSG, after their latest win, have now become the first team to win the Champions League back-to-back under the new format.

French champions Paris Saint-Germain have won the UEFA Champions League (UCL) trophy for the second consecutive time after defeating North London outfit Arsenal on penalties.

The highly anticipated elite European encounter had ended 1-1 after 120 minutes.

Arsenal took the lead as early as the 6th minute after Kai Havertz raced through and finished a move sharply.

Mikel Arteta’s men remained resolute until PSG were awarded a penalty after Cristhian Mosquera fouled Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the box in the second half.

Ousmane Dembélé then stepped forward and sent David Raya the wrong way to level the score for the French side.

However, when both sides failed to find the winning goal, the game eventually went to a penalty shootout, where Eberechi Eze and Gabriel Magalhães missed for Arsenal.

With the win, PSG have now become the first team to win the Champions League back-to-back under the new format.
