Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has said allegations that the South East governors have abandoned detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, are not true.
He made this known on Thursday night in Umuahia, the state capital, during a media parley.
His comment came after some Igbo elders from across the South East staged a protest at Government House, Umuahia, over the continued incarceration of Kanu.
According to the demonstrators, the political leaders in the zone have neglected the IPOB leader.

They urged Governor Otti to rally his colleagues to engage President Bola Tinubu on the matter and ensure his release.
Speaking after the protest, Otti said the five South East governors are actively engaging relevant authorities to secure Kanu’s release.
He, however, stressed that not all efforts are meant for public disclosure.
Speaking during the briefing, Otti said, “Some of the engagements and assurances we have received are not for public consumption since it may derail the process.
“But as his Governor, I’m at the forefront of ensuring he comes back home. All the South East governors are together in this.”
