ADC directs Peter Obi, others to resign from parties for full recognition

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has directed members of its national coalition who still hold memberships in other political parties to resign before they can be formally recognised as ADC members.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, disclosed this after a caucus meeting held in Abuja.

“Though final order has been given to all members to resign membership of other political parties, the caucus was silent on the timeline,” he said.

Abdullahi further revealed that all ADC presidential aspirants for 2027 had agreed to support whoever emerges as the party’s flag bearer at the primaries.

He also clarified that the ADC had no involvement with the proposed All Democratic Alliance (ADA) seeking registration as a political party.

According to him, the National Working Committee will soon announce dates for primaries to choose ADC candidates for the upcoming Osun and Ekiti off-cycle governorship elections.

Those present at the meeting included ADC National Chairman, David Mark; former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar; National Secretary, Rauf Aregbeshola; and former governors Nasir el-Rufai (Kaduna), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), and Chibuike Amaechi (Rivers), among others.

Abdullahi added that Labour Party national leader, Peter Obi, sent his apologies but pledged commitment to the decisions reached at the meeting.
