Ondo appoints Odusanya as Head of Service

Ondo State Governor, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa approved the appointment of Chief Segun Odusanya as the new Head of the State Public Service, with effect from June 6, 2026.

Odusanya’s appointment follows the retirement of the outgoing Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philips, who was commended for his meritorious service and contributions to the development of the state. The Governor also wished him well in his future endeavours.

In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the new Head of Service was urged to deploy his wealth of experience towards strengthening the public service and advancing the administration’s OUR EASE agenda.

Born on February 6, 1967, Chief Odusanya had his early education at St. Peter’s Primary School, Ile-Oluji, and Gboluji Anglican Grammar School between 1972 and 1983.

He proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo University (formerly University of Ife), where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture in 1989.

He later earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies from the same institution in 1992, and subsequently obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Ado-Ekiti in 2000.

Odusanya joined the Ondo State Public Service in September 1995 and rose through the ranks to become a Permanent Secretary in 2019.

He has served in several ministries and agencies, including Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Civil Service Commission, and the Ministry of Transport. Until his appointment, he was the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

He also serves as Chairman of the Forum of Permanent Secretaries in the state.

A fellow of several professional bodies, Odusanya holds fellowships of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), the Chartered Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria (CIPAN), and the Chartered Institute of Local Government Administration (CILGA).

He is married to Lady Oluwatoyin Odusanya, and the union is blessed with three children.
