The decision to reopen the Lekki Toll Gate has led to the mobilization of another #EndSARS protest tagged#OccupLekkiTollGate on February 13.

The Lagos judicial panel of inquiry probing abuses by the disbanded Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) and the killings of protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate voted to reopen the toll gate which has remained closed after the shooting.

The Lagos panel was divided as five of the nine members of the panel led by Justice Doris Okuwobi (rtd), voted in support of the reopening of the tollgate at the last sitting on Saturday, February 6.

Angered by the decision of the panel to reopen the Lekki Toll Gtate before bringing those who killed innocent protesters at the plaza to justice,   Nigerians have started mobilizing for another protest at the tollgate stating that the tollgate must remain shut until justice is served to the victims of the Lekki shooting.

The protest, which was fixed for 7:AM of Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 7am, has Omoyele Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters as one of its main backers.

He tweeted: “No to #Lekkitollgate if @jidesanwoolu @followlasg are desperate for toll revenue, let them toll @AsiwajuTinubu’s Bourdilon home in Ikoyi, there is plenty of traffic there, they can make a lot of revenues from political jobbers trooping in and out #EndSARS #BuhariMustGo.”

@chosensomto also tweeted: “What we have learned from the Judicial panels, #EndSARS, and LekkiMassacre; 1. Never negotiate with this govt. 2. When you go out on the streets, stay on the streets until your demands are met. 3. Prepare for violence, they always bring it. We should #OccupyLekkiTollGate.”

@obikoyaemmanue1 tweeted: “We will not allow these government to brainwash us. We need justice for those heroes that sacrificed there lives at the lekki massacre. Enough of these oppression and tyranny.#OccupyLekkiTollGate.”

@DrOlufunmilayo also tweeted: “At Lekki Toll Gate 20/10/20, Young people were shot. Young people were injured/traumatised. Young people were killed. Till date NOT ONE govt official held responsible. NOT ONE. To reopen that toll gate is to shit and publicly spit on the grave of all the victims of the massacre.”
