The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has insisted that the party would defeat the incumbent president and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, “silly” in 2027 even if it names billionaire businessman Elon Musk as its campaign Director-General.

It made this known in a recent post shared on X by its Director of New Media and Strategic Communications, Theo Abu Agada.

He was reacting to the inauguration of a 108-member presidential campaign council for the 2027 general election by the ruling party.

The APC recently appointed former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, as the campaign’s Director-General, while also naming President Tinubu as chairman of the council.

Reacting to the development, Agada faulted the campaign council constituted by the APC, stressing that having moneybags in the team is no guarantee of electoral victory.

He went on to say that Nigerians—and not the politicians named in the council—would decide the fate of all presidential candidates in the 2027 poll.

The NDC further said that the APC-led administration has driven Nigerians into poverty since assuming office.

Agada wrote: “I am not the least bit moved or worried by the composition of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.

“If the party likes, let it name Elon Musk as its DG and all the moneybags in the country as its members, we will still beat them silly in 2027.

“The ordinary people whose take-home cannot even take them home are the ones who will make a bold statement in 2027.

“The 140 million Nigerians that the APC-led administration has driven into poverty are the ones who will decide the 2027 election.”

Prior to this, another opposition party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), had faulted the composition of President Tinubu’s Campaign Council for the 2027 general election, raising questions about the seriousness of the government in handling corruption cases in the country.
