The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Adeola, has expressed sadness over the death of Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.
He consoled the veteran thespian’s family on Sunday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, via a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Kayode Odunaro.
Ogogo, who featured predominantly in Yoruba movies, died on Sunday after his prolonged battle with cancer progressed to stage four and ultimately claimed his life.
Announcing his demise in an emotional Instagram Live video on Sunday, his daughter, Kira Hassan, said: “My daddy is dead. I can’t believe it.”
Following the confirmation of his death, several netizens, including his colleagues, took to social media to mourn the late actor.
Joining other Nigerians, Senator Adeola described Ogogo as a brother, supporter, and committed advocate for the development of Ogun State and Nigeria.

He noted that the actor’s death was a great loss to the creative and entertainment industry, as well as to his family, Ogun State, and the country.
The APC chieftain went on to say he was particularly saddened by the death of the screenwriter and producer, whom he described as someone who believed in and worked assiduously for his political cause and the interests of the people.
“I am greatly saddened by the death of a brother who believed and worked assiduously for my cause and the cause of our people. I sympathise with his immediate family for their efforts and struggles to keep the dearly departed alive following his illness. God knows best in all circumstances,” he said in a condolence message to the family of the deceased.
The senator further said that Hassan’s contribution to the promotion of a better society through filmmaking and other forms of positive advocacy would remain memorable.
He added that the late thespian left behind a legacy worthy of emulation, particularly through his contributions to the creative industry and society at large.
Adeola, who said the good deeds of the patriarch would not be forgotten, prayed for the peaceful repose of Ogogo’s soul and for God to grant his family the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
