Lagosians mark Independence anniversary with protest

-

Lagosians have converged at the Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota, Lagos State to protest the poor state of the economy and insecurity pervading the country.

Bearing placards that read #TakeItBack Movement and #RevolutionNow, #Buhari Must Go. they said they were discontented with the state of affairs in the country.

The protesters say they were protesting to take back the country from the grip of those who have plagued it with insecurity, poor economy, lawlessness, and other challenges.

The protesters chanted ‘Buhari Must Go’ while singing solidarity songs when the police flooded the protest venue with over 10 Hilux vehicles.

The Nation Newspaper quoted Festus Ogun, a constitutional lawyer and human rights activist, who said: “Nigerians are still in bondage, there is bad governance, unemployment, poverty and anger in the land.

“This is a reflection of how bad we’ve been treated. What we are agitating for today is an end to bad governance and insecurity and the betterment in the situation of the country.”
