British pundit and former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard has said Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool are capable of pushing Arsenal all the way for the English Premier League (EPL) title this season.
The Reds legend made this known on Monday, 2 November, while speaking on The Overlap Daily podcast.
Despite this admission, Gerrard stuck with his pre-season prediction that Arsenal will win the Premier League title.
Mikel Arteta’s side eventually won the highly coveted trophy last season after a 22-year wait.
Following their 1-0 win away at Liverpool on Sunday, the Gunners leapfrogged Man City and are now three points clear at the top of the table.
Reacting to the feat while on the show, Gerrard argued that Arsenal possess the necessary resilience to see off other contenders.
He further argued that the league champions, Man City, Chelsea, and Liverpool will eventually pull away from other clubs as the season goes on.
”I just think where Arsenal’s squad is, and City’s, the Liverpool squad, I just think over the course of the 38 games, the three teams, and Chelsea, when you look at Chelsea in the second half there, I think those teams will pull away a bit over the course,” Gerrard predicted.
