A certain Samson Oghenebreme, 25, of Odomola community in Epe, Lagos has been arrested by police for unlawful possession of human organs suspected to have been harvested for money rituals.
The arrest on April 25 followed a tip off from vigilant members of the community who alerted the authorities to the suspect’s suspicious movements.
Preliminary investigation shows he was allegedly transporting human organs from Edo to deliver to a native doctor for use in suspected money-making rituals.
Police disclosed the recovered human body parts have been deposited at the Epe General Hospital for safekeeping and the case handed over to Edo Police Command for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Lagos Police Commissioner Olohundare Jimoh commended the swift action of his officers and the vigilance of Odomola residents, which he said highlights the power of timely intelligence in combating crime.
He urged Lagosians to remain alert and report any suspicious behaviour or individuals to the nearest police station without delay.
