Tinubu, São Tomé and Príncipe president grace wedding of Defence Minister Matawalle’s 10 children
Dignitaries from Nigeria and abroad converged in Abuja on Friday, February 6, for the wedding fatiha of 10 children of the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, who all got married on the same day.
The ceremony took place at the National Mosque in Abuja, followed by a grand joint reception in a hall for all 10 couples.

President Bola Tinubu attended and acted as Wali (guardian), receiving the brides on behalf of the Matawalle family. The President of São Tomé and Príncipe, Carlos Vila Nova, was also present alongside Tinubu.
Other notable attendees included Deputy Senate President Senator Jibrin Barau and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Politics and Other Matters, Ibrahim Masari.
Governors at the event included Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State, Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, and Nasir Idris of Kebbi State.
Matawalle, a former governor of Zamfara State, gave away five of his daughters—Maryam, Safiyya, Farida, Nana Firdausi, and Aisha—in marriage. Five of his sons—Ibrahim, Abdul Jalal, Surajo, Bello, and Fahad—also tied the knot on the same day.
The officiating Imam, Prof. Luqman Zakariyah, prayed to Allah to bless the marriages, grant the couples success in their life journeys, and bless their parents and grandparents.
On X, Matawalle thanked President Tinubu for graciously serving as Wali at his children’s wedding fatiha, held at the National Mosque in Abuja.
