The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has assured Lagos residents of their safety in the state.
Sanwo-Olu twieted, “The safety of our residents is my number one duty as the CSO of the state.”
The governor was responding to Lagosians’ complains on social media platforms on SARS’ brutality – hashtag ‘ENDSARS’.
Lagosians were calling on the Federal Government for a total revamp of the Nigerian Police.
Many Nigerians over the weekend registered their grievances across various social media platforms trending the regular hashtag ‘ENDSARS’ and calling on all concerned authorities to do the needful before things get out of hand as some youths are already threatening to retaliate and attack family members of some of the identified officers. There were new videos on the internet and individual testimonies during the past week showing and detailing the alleged atrocities by men of the Nigerian Police that have been engaged in unlawful arrests and extortions.
