Jonathan’s former chief of staff, Jones Arogbofa, dies at 71

Arogbofa was an alumnus of several institutions including Obafemi Awolowo University, Rochester Institute of Technology, University of Alabama, United States Army Command and General Staff College, University of Lagos, and the University of Ibadan.

Brigadier Jones Arogbofa (retd), former Chief of Staff to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has died.

According to reports, he slumped and died on Saturday morning in Abuja. He was aged 71.

Born on November 10, 1952 in Oka-Akoko, Ondo State, Arogbofa was commissioned into the Nigerian Army in 1973.

He was Jonathan’s chief of staff from February 10, 2014 to May 29, 2015 when the ex-leader handed over to Muhammadu Buhari after making history as the first incumbent president to lose his bid for re-election.

Arogbofa was an alumnus of several institutions including Obafemi Awolowo University, Rochester Institute of Technology, University of Alabama, United States Army Command and General Staff College, University of Lagos, and the University of Ibadan.

At the time of his death, he was chairman of the Centre for Research, Information Management, and Media Development (CRIMMD).
