Tension is high in Edo State as the September 19 date for the governorship election inches closer.
On Thursday, police took over the Edo State House of Assembly complex in Benin City to forestall alleged plan to attack the facility.
The armed security operatives are currently gathered at the entrance of the complex in large numbers allowing no one entry into the Assembly.

TheNiche gathered that there are plans to impeach the state governor, Godwin Obaseki, who recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The governor has been in a battle of wits with his predecessor and former national chairman of the APC, Adam’s Oshiomhole.
