Fayose alleged that some people just want to perpetuate President Tinubu in power “so that they will continue to enjoy”.

Social media personality and businessman Isaac Fayose has advised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to begin looking for another job after vowing to resign if President Bola Tinubu fails to win the FCT and Rivers State during the 2027 election.

He reacted to the former Rivers State governor’s threat on Thursday in a now-trending post shared on his official Facebook page.

Earlier, while addressing the leadership and members of the Apo Mechanics and Traders Association in Abuja on Wednesday, Wike said he would submit his resignation letter on 17 January if Tinubu loses the FCT in the 16 January polls.

He added, “If I cannot deliver where I work, then I’m not worthy to be here. If I lose FCT, I’m not supposed to be FCT Minister.”

The statement has since caused a buzz online, with some netizens accusing the minister of allegedly planning to manipulate the outcome of the election.

Reacting to Wike’s threat to resign, Fayose claimed that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), would defeat Tinubu in the FCT and Rivers State if the election is free and fair.

He also reminded him that the former Anambra State governor won the nation’s capital in the last election and would perform even better in the 2027 polls.

Speaking via his verified handle, Fayose wrote: “Wike, I’m telling you that Abuja is Obi. We won the last time, and this time, we will win more. APC will not get 25 per cent in Abuja.

“Rivers State is also Obi. You are not going anywhere. Tinubu is tired; he needs to be retired so that Nigeria can move forward. The president is not even the one running the country; he just got back.

“We are winning Abuja and Rivers. Don’t let them hypnotise you by threatening that they have the power to rig. All power belongs to God.

“When they try to rig, we will all see. But if it’s free and fair, they can’t get 21 per cent. Wike, Abuja and Rivers are not yours. Look for another job,” he said.

Fayose further claimed that some people just want Tinubu in power “so that they will continue to enjoy, and you can see it. It is time to take our country back.”
