North American representatives Haiti and their European counterparts Turkey have become the first two nations to be eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Sébastien Migné’s men were mathematically eliminated from the tournament following a 3-0 defeat to Brazil in an earlier encounter played today at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
Manchester United forward Matheus Cunha netted a brace in the 23rd and 36th minutes to give Carlo Ancelotti’s men a comfortable lead.
Vinicius Jr then calmly slotted home past the goalkeeper in first-half stoppage time after former West Ham midfielder Lucas Paquetá played a brilliant ball over the top to him.

Before their latest defeat to Brazil, Haiti had lost 1-0 against European side Scotland in their group opener.
The result left them with zero points after two Group C matches, guaranteeing they cannot progress to the Round of 32 stage.
Similarly, Turkey have crashed out of this year’s World Cup after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of Paraguay.
The South Americans took the lead after just 64 seconds when midfielder Matías Galarza fired in from outside the area to score the fastest goal so far in this tournament, which turned out to be the match-winner.
With the loss, Vincenzo Montella’s side can no longer advance from the group stage and are out of the tournament, having also lost their first group fixture against Australia.
