EPL champions Arsenal face newly promoted Coventry in league opener

​Arsenal won their first EPL trophy in 22 years after Bournemouth held Man City to a 1-1 draw in the penultimate fixture of the season.

​Reigning English Premier League (EPL) champions Arsenal will kick off their 2026/27 season against newly promoted Coventry City.

​The season’s curtain-raiser, which begins on Friday 21 August, will see the Sky Blues travel to the Emirates Stadium for their first top-flight match in 25 years.

​Arsenal, led by Mikel Arteta, won their first league trophy in 22 years after Bournemouth held Manchester City to a 1-1 draw in the penultimate match of the season.

​Hull City, who went up via the play-offs, host Manchester United on Saturday 22 August, while fellow promoted side Ipswich are at home to Sunderland on the same day.

​Last season’s runners-up, Man City, begin life without Pep Guardiola at home to Bournemouth on Sunday 23 August, who also start the campaign with a new manager in Marco Rose.

​The 2024/25 champions, Liverpool, who recently replaced the sacked Arne Slot with ex-Cherries boss Andoni Iraola, are away at Newcastle on the same day.
