British broadcaster and lifelong Arsenal supporter Piers Morgan has absolved Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo of any wrongdoing during his country’s 1-1 draw against the Democratic Republic of Congo at the ongoing World Cup.
He made a case for the 41-year-old striker during a recent candid interview with Sports Uncensored.
Ronaldo, despite being on the pitch for the entire game, failed to make the desired impact needed to help his team secure all three points.
Speaking on the encounter, Morgan claimed it was Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes who had a bad game against DR Congo, and not the Al-Nassr forward.

He went on to say the midfielder put in a subpar performance compared to Ronaldo, adding that he barely had a good kick during the encounter against DR Congo.
“Have you watched the Portugal game? I thought the one who had the really bad game was Bruno Fernandes,” Morgan said.
He added: “I think Declan Rice was [the Premier League Player of the Season]. I thought he [Fernandes] barely had a good kick in the game against DR Congo.
“Ronaldo is playing as a No. 9 rather than a flying winger. He needs service from the team, but he did not get that service.”
