Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has pointed out the disparity between his salary and that of the Head of Service (HoS) and an average Permanent Secretary in the state.
He revealed this in a video recorded at a recent event in Asaba, the state capital, which has since gone viral online.
According to Oborevwori, while he earns a monthly salary of ₦503,000, an average Permanent Secretary in the oil-rich state takes home ₦900,000 monthly.

He also indicated that the monthly salary of the Head of Service—who earns ₦1 million monthly—is almost double that of the governor.
Speaking in the viral clip, Governor Oborevwori said, “You will also recall that we were one of the first states that implemented the minimum wage.
“Today, a Permanent Secretary’s salary is more than the governor’s. Your salary is ₦900,000; my salary is ₦503,000. Head of Service is ₦1 million,” he said.
Delta State, considered one of the richest states in Nigeria, is among the highest recipients of allocations from the Federation Account, including funds under the 13 per cent derivation principle for oil-producing states.
