Barcelona forward Fermín López has hailed his club’s acquisition of Spanish defensive midfielder Rodri from the Premier League, but admitted he is “sad” to hand over his number 16 shirt to him.
He made this known recently during a candid interview with Spanish daily sports newspaper, AS.

Rodri is set to complete his £65.4m move from Manchester City in the coming days after travelling to Spain from England to undergo medicals at Barcelona.
Following his arrival at Camp Nou, the Spain national team captain spoke with López about taking his number 16 shirt, which he wore at City.

The attacking midfielder and winger is now expected to switch to number 7, which Ferran Torres vacated following his move to Paris Saint-Germain.
While speaking with the media outlet, López said: “Rodri will give us a lot of quality; it’s a fantastic signing.”
Addressing the shirt swap, he added: “I’ve asked for number 7. I always liked it.
“I’m a little bit sad to leave number 16, but it will be in good hands.”
